Holy Cow What a Busy Weekend!

Hank and Kristie working on the nursery (sorry we didn't get pics of Jessica and Grayson!)

So, this was a very busy weekend for us in the Miller household! Saturday our friends Hank and Kristie came over to help us get started painting the nursery. They arrived just after 9 AM, taped, and then applied a coat of tinted primer. While this was going on, Trip worked on building the room in the attic and I: made 4 8x8 pans of bacon cheeseburger pasta, two taco braids (bread with taco filling), crock pot fixings for 2 orange beef stews, a batch of mini meatloaves, and 4 taco pies. Kristie and Hank were rewarded for their hard work with a hearty lunch of taco pie! They loved it, and Kristie already has the recipe for use later :-)

Saturday night we celebrated my birthday with the Miller family at my in-laws home. We had a great meal of marinated pork loin (using my family's traditional london broil marinade), green beans, twice baked potatoes, pineapple casserole and spinach salad. My mother-in-law even made caffeine free sweet tea for us! The finishing touch was a scrumptious raspberry chocolate cake. We finally settled on my birthday cake! (Everyone in the Miller family gets a special birthday cake just for them - since my family is all the way in Massachusetts, my mother-in-law has lovingly taken on the role of having a birthday dinner/cake for me each year).

This afternoon, Trip's sister Jessica and her husband Grayson came over to apply the paint layer. The room looks great! (I will take a picture tomorrow in the daylight) Trip and I are very thankful to have such great friends and family who were not only willing/able to help out, but also did a fabulous job!! Again, Trip continued working on the attic room - currently working on framing for the walls. And again I was in the kitchen. Today I made 4 chicken pesto calzones, 2 bags of chicken curry for the crock pot, and 4 8x8 lasagnas. Again our hard workers were rewarded with food - this time a dinner featuring lasagna, salad, bread, and yellow squash. I must say, that Jessica was a trooper who not only tried the roasted yellow squash, but decided she liked it!!

Needless to say my feet and back are not exactly happy campers right now. Thankfully I was able to get some good sleep last night, and between 4 pillows, a body pillow and a wedge style pillow - provided both tummy and back with enough support that my back fully recovered. Here's hoping I can manage such a feat again tonight!

Tomorrow Trip and I have the day off for MLK day, and it will continue to be busy. I have a doctor's appointment in the morning, and am getting my car washed/detailed in the afternoon (thank you Groupon). Trip will continue working on the attic, with a small break to carry Raleigh to the vet. I'm hoping we can move furniture back in to the nursery as well, but there are some other regular household chores that haven't gotten done yet this weekend that will likely take priority. I'll try to have a more focused update on Baby Miller tomorrow after my appointment, but that's it for now!

You are making me hungry. I know you must be happy to see the nursery take shape.
