In a completely unexpected turn of events, Trip and I have decided to buy a new house. I think this is about week 3 (maybe 4?) of this whole adventure. We have been casually watching area houses for a while now. Trip blames this on me - and I'll be the first to admit it has been hard moving into HIS house after getting married. But the truth is we've both looked at one time or another. Recently we started finding some things that piqued our interest. Then Trip investigated mortgage rates at work one day. He came home saying 'Maybe we should be looking more seriously..." So on a whim we arranged to look at a few houses currently available and ended up finding one we both really liked. Compared others in our price range, this was by far the best kept house. Most things we saw would need major repairs/updating before we could move in, but all this house needs is a fence for the dogs...
So, we took a leap and made an offer! After some negotiation we signed and ratified our contract with the seller last weekend. Then the inspections were this past week. After some more negotiations about repairs etc. (more on this later), we now have everything in place to close on our new house July 30th. Whew! Now we begin the marathon journey of packing, cleaning, and repairing our current house. Obviously this was a last minute decision for us, which unfortunately means we are going to carry both mortgages for a while. So we're trying to get out of here soon after closing to finish up and get this house on the market. Here are some pictures of the new place:

I think it's very similar to the floor plan of the house almost next door that we loved when we were looking at houses. How ironic! We wished that hadn't been the first house we'd seen, cause when we realized that the first house really was what we wanted, it was too late :( Love it!
