Better Than Expected

Well, part of goal one for this week is complete. Although I wasn't too sure what was going to happen since my shoulder/neck area wasn't feeling too great. Sometimes this means it's just tight (result from over rotation forward), and sometimes it's a migraine precursor. Today's weather was just too glorious to miss though, so after taking a precautionary ibuprofen, the two most out of shape members of the house went out for a jog.
Believe it or not, Raleigh (affectionately known of as 'fat dog' to Trip) enjoys jogging with me. We did a lot of jogging together in the fall when I was getting up in the morning before work. Needless to say, it has been a while for him. But he kept up just fine, and we completed Day 1 of Week 8 of the Couch25K no problem. I don't know if it was having to repeat the command 'heel' every 30 seconds or so, being outside, or the welcome change in music, but today seemed much easier. It was an extra 3 minutes of jogging compared to week seven, so I was glad that I wasn't feeling too horrible at the end. With my new slower pace, I jogged just over 2 miles, with an additional mile or so of walking.
This was also my first jog outside with the HR monitor. My average HR was right in my target zone at 166bpm; however, this was because my heart rate downhill was 156ish and my hr uphill was 176-179ish. Whoops! Oh well, probably better than the constant 170s I get at the gym.
Now I just have to decide whether I will jog outside again tomorrow or at the gym (or outside at the gym). I also thought I may jog Wednesday morning until I remembered my 8:00 AM dentist appointment. That killed that idea! So Friday will be my third jog day.
