Two thousand and eight has officially come and gone. Trip and I can now say that we were married LAST year!! It has been a good year for us, but as always, there were complications in the transition. Trip and I woke up this morning to a loud grinding noise coming from our heat pump, located just outside our bedroom window. It was very reminiscent of the sound the heat pump made when it froze over a few years ago. Then we listened...and listened...and listened... until we realized that no air was blowing through the vents. Ugh, and welcome to a new year. Being that it was already 9:30 in the morning, we were pretty convinced the heat pump was indeed not frozen over, and began the process of discovery. Trip was able to determine rather quickly that this was not a case of a simple broken fan belt that he could replace himself, so we had to call in a professional. Thankfully my old roommate Ashley's father is a heating/air/refrigeration/etc. guy, and after some detective work (aka IMing Brian, the boyfriend of my other previous roommate Sondra who is lifelong best friends with Ashley) I was able to call him for a consult.
So Trip and I spent this morning huddled on our couch watching TV and trying to keep warm. And while it definitely got colder as the day went on, the electric blanket, and a warm shower followed by multiple layers of clothing we were able to survive. Mr. Cooper came over this afternoon to diagnose our problem as a faulty relay switch to our fan - hence no blowing air - and was able to rig us up a solution. Unfortunately we can't get "real" parts right away since this is a holiday and all. Did I say Happy New Year?! The one positive thing out of all of this is that when Trip replaced his AC stuff after he bought the house, the parts came with a 5 year warranty, which hasn't run out!! So hopefully we'll be able to get the true replacement parts for free and only pay for Mr. Cooper's labor.
And with that I would like to wish everyone a happy, joyous, and warm New Year!
