I'm getting Cabinets!!

As part of our plans for upgrading the house, Trip and I have talked for a long time about how to expand the storage space in our kitchen. The way the house was when Trip bought it, there was only ONE full sized drawer in the kitchen. Don't get me wrong, there are two drawers total, but one of them is maybe 4 or 5 inches wide; so not of much use storage wise. So after much discussion, we had finally decided to better utilize the "bar" side of our peninsula between our kitchen and dining room. After much bickering, discussing, arguing, and measuring (and the requisite trips to Home Depot and Lowe's) we decided to close of the kitchen, and put in a bank of cabinets centered around a hutch-like area.

Last month Trip started asking what I wanted for my birthday (I think as a way to get Christmas present ideas.....), and I simply replied "the kitchen cabinets." Now, my husband in his brilliance tried to get away with saying, "I could certainly get them started by then." But I did have to remind him that for them to actually be a birthday present, they really had to be done by my birthday. I did say this knowing that he has had this entire past week off of work! Anyway, he's made a lot of progress, and after even more trips back to Lowe's and Home Depot to discuss tile etc., I think they just might be done in time for my birthday! YAY!
