Another Weekly Update
After a full weekend of multiple surprise packages, Trip and I learned last Wednesday that my brother David, wife Erica, and their little son Jasper were the wonderful gifters of Baby Miller's bedding!! It is an incredibly generous and thoughtful gift, which I am SO excited to have!! Thank you!!!! Now I just have to finally pick paint color. We're thinking either another shade of blue or a beige/tan. I will have this done soon I hope... I will admit, as you can probably tell by the pictures above, that the bedding isn't truly set up yet. But it gives you the general idea. I am definitely not a huge fan of the black supports being so obvious in those corners, but oh well.
Another one of this week's adventures was to start thinking about some freezer meals for in the spring. I found a great website that has a variety of freezer appropriate meals and decided to try one out this weekend. Given the fact that both Trip and I enjoy spicy food in general, and Mexican in particular, I decided to try the Spicy Ting Pork Enchiladas. This recipe was definitely a bit more labor intensive at the beginning, but tastes awesome! Using a 2lb pork butt piece yielded 4 freezer pans of 4 enchiladas each, and 2 pans of 3 enchiladas that we had for dinner Sunday and again last night. I will admit that the freezer pans probably have a little less filling in them than the pans of 3, but I was getting tired of filling creating a mess during the rolling process. By making all those extra pans, I used 3 cans of sauce, 2lbs of cheese and 2 cans of black beans all adjusted from the original recipe. I am really hoping that these are just as yummy later as they were this weekend! And thankfully Trip really enjoyed them too, since we have at least 4 more meal's worth :-) After that success I am looking forward to trying some other recipes off the website, as I know cooking ahead will become more and more a feature of our household.
In Baby updates this week:
Things are still going well. Had an appointment this morning where I got my Rhogam shot. Apparently I am RH negative, and irregardless of whether Trip is negative or positive I get the shots. One today, and I'll get another once Baby Miller is born. No one told me I was RH negative, but if I thought I about it for two seconds I would have know that anyway since my blood type is A- (so duh!).
I also had the PA make a guess about Baby's position. Of course I heard the speech about how babies are still doing lots of turning and flipping, but I explained that I pretty much feel her in the same place all the time. In fact, I have felt movements in the same place since 18 weeks! And I'm sure she was doing a lot more flipping back then! Anyway, based on heartbeat and a quick tummy feel, she guesses that Baby Miller is head down with her feet in my right rib cage area. I was glad to know she is already head down, though not surprised as I suspected her feet were kicking my ribs.
I am measuring right at 30 weeks, which is good (technically 30 weeks is tomorrow). And I got copies of my records for safety while traveling for Christmas.
This week has also been the start of hiccups! I probably would have felt them sooner if I was able to pay attention all the time, but I have felt hiccups nearly every day for the past week or so. That is a neat feeling, and it's good to know that she is exercising those lungs!
No picture of the bump this week - we've been busy with other things. I'll try to get another one soon. At the very least I can get a picture from our Miller Christmas celebration on Sunday.
