Pickles!!
Although today was relatively unproductive in the realm of cleaning (which those who know me best know I avoid like the plague), I was able to can 4 quarts of dill pickles! I tried my best to remember the recipe from camp oh so many years ago. Let me think, over 10 years ago?! Wow. Anyways, best pickles ever! Our cukes aren't really the best for cucumbers, so I may need to plant a few different plants next year. Some for salads etc and some for pickling. I cannot WAIT to try these pickles. I remember from camp being told to wait until September to eat the pickles, but I'm just not sure I can last that long. A couple of weeks, maybe? I will probably try making Dilly Beans and Salsa here before too long too since I have extra jars. Eventually we'll add Trip's family's Sweet Chunk Pickle to the mix - but right now that recipe is just too complicated! Maybe I'll make it as a surprise for his birthday... Not sure how though...hmm.

I don't think they could be a surprise. They soak in vinegar for days I think. He'd smell them if he didn't see them! Maybe you could do them at my parents house and he'd think they were my moms?
Yeah - I was thinking about that myself. I haven't really studied the recipe, so I didn't know if they could be outside or something. He decided it was too complicated to try this year.
