Welcome Mia!!

Here are some adorable pictures to help me announce the birth of neice Maria Llora Negro. Mia, as she will be called, was named after Carrie's sister Maria, and Jay's sister - myself. I'm not sure I have had time to fully process yet, but am deeply honored and humbled. I cannot wait to have a chance to go home and meet this newest addition to the Negro family!! Oh, the stats: Mia was born on 02/10/09 at 10:08 PM weighing a hefty 9lbs 10 ounces, and stretching 22 inches long (although I have also heard 21.75). Eben is excited to have a new sister, and even attended a "Sister Dinner" on Tuesday night. Only those people who had sisters and could name them could attend - very cute idea and he loved it. They even had cake!

And as a poignant addendum, there is a cute Eben story in all of this too. As many of you know, once Eben found out about his sister's impending arrival, he began to think seriously about those things that he wasn't willing to share. Eventually a variety of things made it on the list, most notably his drums (which I presume remain hidden in the coat closet) and his adults. That's right folks, this 3 year old doesn't want to share his adults! So while he was very excited to meet his little sister, he was apparently less than thrilled to look over at her crib in the hospital and find both grandmothers and Aunty Maria cooing and leaning over Mia. Ever the quick thinker, Eben promptly stomps his feet and questions, "what's that noise?" Somewhat appropriately, neither grandmother remembers the incident, but his parents noticed! Don't worry Ebs, Trip and I have a special treat for you when I visit in May.
And I guess I have one extra side note. Trip and I sort of tease each other about who Eben gets more excited about - mostly because recently his squeals have consisted of "Uncle Trip!!" more often than not. So I wondered aloud tonight if I would get an Aunt Llora Jean!! in May while Trip is at home. Trip quitely states, "I'm going to be upset if he doesn't miss me." Adorable! Ok, way past my bedtime. Especially given the bug that has been going around work. But had to share! Toodles!
